Privacy Policy

In short: Petiko has no accounts and we do not run a server that stores your pets' data. What you enter stays on your device. When you use the AI assistant, your question is sent to Google to produce an answer. Petiko does not show ads.
Who we are
Petiko ("we", "us") is an app for iPhone and Android published by an independent developer. You can reach us at petikoapp@gmail.com.
Data stored on your device
The following is saved only on your device and is not sent to us:
- Pet profiles (name, species, breed, age, weight, photo).
- Health records, including any photos you attach.
- Reminders, events and medication schedules.
- Emergency card details such as your vet's contact information.
- Your chat history with the AI assistant.
- App settings, such as language, and counters for how many AI requests you have used.
Deleting an item in the app removes it from your device. Deleting the app removes all of this data. If you back up your device, app data may be included in your backup under Apple's or Google's terms.
AI assistant
When you send a symptom check, a chat message or a photo question, we send the following to Google through Firebase AI Logic (Gemini API) so that an answer can be generated:
- The text you typed and any photo you attached.
- Basic details of the selected pet, such as name, species, breed, age and weight.
- Earlier messages of the same conversation, so the answer has context.
Before your first request the app asks for your consent. Google processes this data as a service provider under its own terms and privacy policy. Please do not include personal information about people in your questions.
The assistant gives general information only. It is not veterinary advice and does not replace an examination by a veterinarian.
App verification
To prevent abuse of the AI service, the app uses Firebase App Check with Apple's App Attest on iPhone and Google's Play Integrity on Android. This confirms that requests come from a genuine copy of Petiko on a real device. It does not identify you personally.
Advertising
Petiko does not currently show ads and does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites. If ads are added in a future version, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
Purchases
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive your name, card number or other payment details. The app only learns whether a purchase is active.
Permissions
- Notifications: to remind you of events and medication. The reminders are scheduled on your device.
- Camera and photo library: only when you choose to add a photo to a pet, a record or an AI question.
You can change these at any time in your device's Settings.

We do not sell your data.
Your choices and rights
Because your data is stored on your device, you control it directly: you can edit or delete it in the app, or remove everything by deleting the app. You can use Petiko without the AI assistant if you do not want any content sent to Google. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you; contact us and we will help, including with requests that need to go to the providers above.
Children
Petiko is not directed to children, and the AI assistant is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
